I've been wanting to re-design my site logo for a while, however I'm having issues coming up with anything. The site is atreon.net. It doesn't really have a meaning, just something I came up with.

Here is the current logo:


Obviously that is quite big and really only works on a splash page. It's not transparent or anything else so it definitely needs to be re-done. I'd love to try and make something in Illustrator that is vector, however I'm finding Ai to be a PITA to use. I'm open to any ideas/suggestions. Something maybe a little more professional looking. I'm not asking anyone to actually make this for me, just looking for some ideas.

The one suggestion I have for you is to start out by making it in black and white. A good logo should be able to stand on it's own without any color or textures or effects or anything like that.

I can definitely do that, what about thoughts of an actual logo not just the name...

I know you're not big on Illustrator (and I feel your pain; I'm much better with PhotoShop), I would try manipulating some of the letters a bit so that it's not just a font being used; that would help give it a more unique look. You could try stretching down the left leg of the A a bit (sort of like the M in Metallica) or slanting it to the right for effect or just about anything else you can think of to give it a little more style. To do that in Illustrator, you'll need to convert the type to outlines so you can work with the points that are created.

It's hard to say without knowing the purpose of the web site or the name. I see the radiation symbol and that looks cool. But, if it's just a site that you mess around with or use for disk space, the sky is the limit.

Right now its not really much of anything...I'd like to sort of use it like a portfolio/online resume type site. Maybe do some sort of picture gallery.
