I just spent a couple hours trying to duplicate your CD icon. I had to learn a couple things, so thanks!

Did I get close?



I could fade/mask the text too but I didn't bother. I'm not happy with my radial highlights. I have a layer below the image and text that's a gradient and I just painted on the highlights in white with a soft brush. But I hate having to rely on fine motor skills for anything.

I guess it might be better to draw a shape with the pen tool then turn it into a selection and apply white to get the angles more exact. How did you do yours?

Edit: I know the center is a little bit off. Just a little bit of bad aim when doing the selection. I didn't want to go that far back to start over.

*laugh* you know it didn't even cross my mind to do it that way. I made that image a long time before I started getting properly in to photography. I really should try and combine the two
