tl;dr-1 -- What are some good ways to increase my FPS
tl;dr-2 -- What is a checklist of everything a person should experience in DAoC these days since SI launch years ago? Like almost a "progression check list".

Dook here again. Posting my DAoC-Blog for the day.

It looks like my Wife, best friend, and I are gonna go ahead and stick with DAoC for at least a few months until SWTOR comes out end of this year. We're currently in our mid 30's and getting 2-4 levels a day. I have 50's, but they don't, so once again I'm leveing on this server.

Here are some questions I have:

1. How do I turn off "tool-tips" for spells? I keep my spell bar right next to my chat window and my mini-group window. As a Cleric, it's immensely frustrating to hover my mouse (ya I've never used number keys to play an MMO) over a spell and have it say "Reviction!" right over the health bars. I checked "Options" and User.dat. I don't see how to turn this off, but surely you can?

2. I did some quick googling, but with DAoC being an older/slowly dying game, there isn't as much of a wealth of information as other MMOs. I have a few in depth detailed posts bookmarked, but do you guys personally have any internet and/or computer optimizations you made that were like night and day for you?

My settings are turned all the way down, and I'm trying my damndest to make this Netbook work...and it's playable, but if you guys know of simple ways to get an additional 10 FPS or so, let me know.

3. I can easily say I've invested many /played days into this game. Countless hours from 2001, but I was one of those guys that played very little after ToA. Even when I have had a few stints, I usually level to 50...grow bored and leave.


However, this time, once hitting 50, my little group have different goals. However we don't knwo what they are, so does anybody have a good mental checklist of "things you should do in DAoC or see"

I have done all of old DAoC, seen it all. Dragons, Dartmoor-type zones, I have done Tusc Glaciar and the SI-Alb final zone, forget name of it. I also did all of Summoner's Hall way back in the day. I have killed one of those random "new'ish" dragons with Xeen one day when he wanted to Duo it. I have done about half of ToA's master levels.


I have not:

Done anything with Labirynth. What am I missing here?
Done anything with Catacombs. Is this just the new instance dungeons?
What is Darkness Rising all about?


I did the doppleganger stuff back in 2008.


What other Major Quests or campaigns or anythign like that do I definitely need to spend time doing?


My point is:

On Gaheris, what is there to do besides:

Farm Keeps
Complete ToA
Complete Labirynth (I don't even know what I'm saying here.)
Complete Final SI Bosses.


I've been away from the game so long, I need a checklist!

Another reason I use VN Boards to get information is that since I'm in Afghanistan, usually when I play it's 7am-Noon for the rest of you. There is usually 14-40 people online. I have never seen more than 42. (For when I play). So it's hard to ask guildmates and alliance mates when with my weird playtime hours.

The Dragon Slayer quest line will keep you busy!

1) Getting FRIENDLY Faction in all 3 of the dragon zones (Home Realm Zone is the MOST important but it's fun to do all 3!)
2) Getting through the entire quest line up until you reach the "BIG 3" (where you fight all 3 of the realm dragons @ once [which we did last week])
3) Then you can start killing the complete line of dragons for the "new" Dragon Mythirians

Dragon Myths & Legends (this quest is KILLER because it's repeatable!!)

(Mid Characters)

Slay Gjalpinulva (Mid Realm Dragon), Nosdoden (Mid SI Dragon...er....Slug??) , Zhulrathuul (Labyrinth Dragon) or Draco (ML10 Dragon) for their scale and take it to *Your Home Realm Order Of The Dragonslayer Representative*. With the scale and Atlantean Glass he will imbue it for you and create a Dragon Mythirian.

(Alb Characters) Slay Golestandt, Xanxicar (The elusive WHITE, two-headed Dragon), Zhulrathuul or Draco ..........

(Hib Characters) Slay Cuuldurach, Mydraxxis (Hydra), Zhulrathuul or Draco ......

Rewards: (click for stats)

Edit: Had VERSION instead of Characters in description of quest but when re-reading it .. it seemed a little misleading. You have to kill your HOME Realm Dragon OR SI Dragon ... OR... kill ml10 Draco OR Laby Dragon. It just takes one once you get the quest line finished up to this point.
