I bring you something very different for this week. Topic of the Week would like to remind you all how important in game friendships can be. We all form them...in-game friendships and bonds. Day after day, we see the same names, develop a familiarity, likes and dislikes for each other. We help each other level, farm gear, and develop templates. We join guilds and alliances. We have our cliques and set groups we run with. We get to know each others likes and dislikes. We get a feel for each others play style. We compliment one and other. We share personal details about our lives. We exchange emails, telephone numbers, text messages, and may even meet face to face. It may last a few weeks. It may last a few years. At any rate, it is a friendship of sorts.

Nearly three years ago, the Gaheris Server suffered a tragic loss when three people within the same alliance all passed away within weeks of each other. My friend Tim was one of those three. I first met him on Lancelot when he joined a guild I was in. He was just an awesome guy, easy to talk to, very helpful, and fun to be around. We often grouped with a few other friends for nightly RVR. We all helped each other develop templates, farm needed gear, get Master Levels and artifacts. We just had fun together. We moved over to Morgan La Fey for a bit and then went to Gaheris when we needed a break from the PVP. His passing was very sudden, and very unexpected, as were his comrades. Three years ago, the Gaheris community came together to pay tribute to their fallen game mates. Today, Topic of the Week is sharing that tribute and would like to hear about the DAOC friends you've made that you want to remember.

Rest in Peace Timmy, Robin, and Jason. It was fun knowing you!

Do you have any good topic ideas? If you have one you'd like to see posted, please drop me a line!

I am a bit ashamed that I'm not sure on her toon name, but I believe it was Flutter from Le Pacte /as.

I miss her and Masti from Gaheris. I miss Nightwish and our Israeli friend from Lancelot. Most of the rest of the folks I either still play with or know in rl.

Now if I were to list the people I grew to dislike while playing... That would be a much longer list (if I could even remember their names).

Maybe next week you could ask about guild and /as clusterf*cks that resulted from someone going powermad after they get a promo... I bet there are 1000 tales of that lmao.

Not sure Flutter was ever in Le Pacte /as. Her guilds were Trinity and then....uhhh....the one Trilo is in now.

Lots and lots of people from the old days (and even more recent days, just lots fewer people around) stick out. To list a few is to not mention dozens that deserve it as well.

Hey y'all.. Valoria/Jorieg from Le Pacte here. Just came back about a month ago. There are a ton of old friends, or just people we hung with that were awesome. Not sure I could make a list, as I am sure I would miss a few names here and there. They know who they are.

Le Pacte did share an alliance with Trinity. I think they were in the /as led by RoI while we were, and/or was part of a Le Pacte led one, but that was mainly remnants of Trinity. Was over 4 years ago, so my memory is a little buggy..

WB!

I'm sorry to say I'm leaving and probably for good so I won't catch you in game. I just removed my personal guild from your /as about 6 months ago. I hope you all have lots of fun on your return visit

although I have moved on, there are some people I really miss.

One thing about Gaheris is the community is so tight. I have played a few games since DAOC, and I have yet to see anything like Gaheris.

And there are still times I think about Amallya, as does Jay. She passed away, and it was like losing someone right here in the house with us. We don't realize the bonds we develope on the internet, till one is gone.
