I am not really happy about this tbh. Only because I will have complete multiples on 1 cluster. Literally like 3 shamans, 3 vamps, 2 tics, 3 healers, 2 skalds, 2 rangers, and that's just off the top of my head.


I imagine it'll increase the activity of rvr though, but it also disses any chance of Origins I imagine.


It's sad - it seems That those whom control freeshards have more technology and time to dedicate to what they offer then what mythic does. They are keeping data on some freeshard servers, and have a separate shard that switches NF and Old Frontiers every few months, yet Mythic stated they cannot do this? Wtf. Oh well. Totally have mixed feelings about this.

I'm pretty sure that Lori announced the possibility of Origins after she had announced the phases involving Ywain, which this is going into more details about. The facebook update had said that a summer intern had started his work, which in an update had said they had interns comming for the summer to work on "origins", so it still may be a possibility. But it is Mythic.

OFN. I still consider this all to be vaporware until we see some 1.99 patch notes and a release date on the Herald. Mythic has proven too many times in the past that they are full of shit for me to get too excited about transfers until I see them happening.

Yeah, I'll have a few duplicate classes myself (2 healers, 2 clerics). Just think of it this way: now you can have different specs of the same class on one server without having to respec constantly.

If shards are so great, nothing is stopping you from playing on them. Not everybody wants to go back to milegate camping, waiting on the porter, or having to run for 15 minutes to defend your distant keeps. A return to OF is not universally wanted. I'd rather they forget about Origins or at least shelve it until Ywain's population declines to the point that it isn't viable by itself (Killibury still has decent action in primetime some nights with about 500 players but for the sake of argument I'd say no Origins until Ywain drops below 1000).

I understand, and yeah I already have all multiple specs for some duplicate chars I got, but still - I rathers focus on 1. It makes me a tad not happy knowing I will have over 65 chars on 1 cluster now.

Freeshards has the instant touch portal that DAOC implemented for about 2 weeks prior to New Frontiers. You touch it and port instantly. I do play there, often, as do a good many of the 'old schoolers' but I won't give up the amount of chars I got here for instant chars I can get there. I do like what Freeshards does.. the Liberty Moon cluster has it to where every month the frontier 'warps' into OF and NF to keep both sides happy. This is something that Mythic said they don't have the technology to do. I find that funny cuz I would think Mythic has more 'technology' then some garage nerd running a freeshard hehe. /shrug.
