i have noticed this.
this is a nice spot, acf if you want more spirit, and there are of course the games forums. some allow OT, some dont so make sure if you pick a game forum you pick one that will suit your needs 
we also have the community forums...cooking, parenting, photography, sports, and such. those are nice also.

i wonder if they'll include an option for an actual "classic view" once they see how many subscribers they lost doing that update.

I think it's going to be hard to judge. They lost a lot of subscribers when they allowed outsiders to have icons. Especially since outsiders can use megicons if they know the name. They are in the same search database as regular icons.
Between the outsider icons and poor board code there aren't going to be many insiders renewing over the next year. Teh vestibule has already sufered noticeably The worst part of that is that the autorenew is going to hit a lot of people not expecting it.
I've noticed on the board issues board they are eventually planing on bring the code here. Be scared. Even the "classic view" they created sucks and I mentioned some things over in an issues thread about the changes.
Oh and mentioning ACF isn't going to be enough to help some of these people find the board right away. So I'm just going to put this here. http://vnboards.ign.com/ac_friends/b5258/p1

Well the classic view has been made even more classic so it does seem like things are on track. We'll just see how things turn out over the next month or so. A lot of glitches have been poping up. Something over there has been eating CTs. They just disapear from threads but they're still in peoples post history and they return when someone makes a new post.
