Every year, the "lunde" hatch their children at Runde, a bird mountain not far from where I live (about an hr drive + an hr walk)

And since both me and my dad had yesterday off, we decided to head over there and see if we couldn't get some decent pictures.

I'm a bit dissappointed in what I managed to produce, but I got a few decent shots and I'm gonna share them with you

First a few shots of the surroundings:

My father in the sun, overlooking the ocean:

Some other guy, quite a bit later:

Eagle soaring:

Great Skua, male and female

Runde is an island all the way on the west coast of Norway. a few pics of the view from the top of the island:

And finally, the main attraction of the island, the "Lunde" or as it is known in english: Atlantic Puffin

"Is it far down?" (yes )

Managed to get one in flight as well:

One of many unsharp shots :<

Beautiful! I love birds and don't get any seabirds here. (Seagulls don't count.)

Very cool! I wish we got exotic birds like that around here. I really want the SO to teach me about photography, then I can take pics of the Great Blue Heron, Great Egret and the Mallards in our little pond.

I was watching that exotic foods show and the guy went to some island off Greenland or Iceland where they are allowed to hunt the puffins for a few days a year. He said they tasted like a combination of beef and venison. Not that it has anything to do with the photos....just the birds.

Oh, and about the first image, I'd thought I'd use that as a practical lesson on using a flash.

As You can see, since I'm shooting towards the sun, all you can see of my dad is his outline, this is when using a Flash (or a reflector) for some fill light is a good idea.

unfortuantly, my dad doesn't like to pose, so both of these shots are more or less candid, just shooting while he was otherwise occupied. That's why this second shot is both overexposed and with a bad pose :]

Anyway the point is still made, I'm still shooting into the sun, my dad is in the same spot, just turned around. But in this shot I'm using the build in flash, just to get some light on him. I wasn't very hopefull that it would work, since the build in flash isn't all that fantastic, and the sun was very strong. The effect is surprisingly good though.

EDIT: I swear I typed built every time, VN must be correcting me :<
