So recently Canon announced the new 60D and many people were less than impressed from what i could tell. It has seemed that for a while now Canon has been losings its grasp on the market. Today Chase Jarvis(look him up if you don't know who he is) announced the Nikon d7000 and posted a short film he made using it's 1080p video as well as a little behind the scenes video that can be found here: http://blog.chasejarvis.com/blog/2010/09/nikon-d7000/

It will be interesting to see how the 60D will sell compared to the D7000. If i were in the market for a new camera i would probably go with a Nikon even though i am invested in Canon bodies and lenses. Canon needs to step up their game imo. The 7d and the 5DII are great cameras but i don't think the 60D will compete with the new Nikon.

What do you folks think?

I am very impressed with the new D7000 - I mean in many areas it is an improvement on my D300...

I'm also very impressed with the lineup Nikon now has with their optics. If I was a professional I'd definatly would have to reconsider if I was using anything other then nikon..

Primes I want:

24mm 1.4 (new)

35mm 1.4 (new)

50mm 1.4 (new.. ish)

85mm 1.4 (new)

200mm 2.8 VR II (new)

you've grabbed my attention. I went with a fixed lens Leica for my first jump into slr-ish digitals. I will definitely have to look Nikons up when the time comes where a full out digital SLR purchase becomes reasonable for my pockets.

thanks for the article.
