I don't think the lines are distracting. I think perhaps there is too much going on. There are multiple focus points and I can't quite figure out what you are trying to accomplish with the photo.

i keep wanting to reach out and move the right side away to see more of them.

I agree. I do think its a good picture though, my eyes just don't know where they want to go.
