We have a 50D, and I cant take it with me all the time, as my wife loves using it also. I travel so much, I want to take pics all the time. I am thinking of a 30 or 40D as my travel camera, with some cheaper glass.
What do yall think?

I just got myself a Samsung NX100 with the 20-50 kit-lens the other day. A second lighter camera is a nice thing

what about a used 5d? a full frame would compliment a 50d nicely. Otherwise I still think the 40d is a steal. Used you can get one for 500ish and the image quality is fantastic, the only thing I wish I had was micro adjust.

it will be a while before we get a 5D. We want to get a 70-200mm IS 2.8 MK1, 100mm macro, and an 85mm before upgrading camera

Just look at your "new camera budget" and subtract the cost for a 50mm 1.8 lens. The remaining amount will tell you which camera to buy.

already have 2 50mm 1.8's... cant go wrong for $99

I bought a Canon T2i yesterday for the same purpose, just random travel stuff. Im going to buy a Tamron 18-250 f4.5-6.3 and leave it at that, FOREVERZ.
Cant wait. So tired of holding onto massive cameras
