I went to the doc and he has found 4 lumps in my left breast and 2 in my right. He said they 'feel' cancerous and has scheduled me for a mammogram.
He said if they are cancerous I have the choice of chemo or double masectomy. I could do with a boob reduction  and my hubby says as long as I am healthy he can do without them also. I can't produce milk so having them IF I have a 3rd child isn't necessary.
Would you go thru the chemo and making yourself sick, losing your hair for weeks/months
or
just get the masectomy?

Sorry to hear this 
I would probably go with the mastectomy. Chemo just doesnt sound like the lesser of 2 evils in this situation.

For me chemo is a bigger horror than having something non-essential removed.
As a guy, as much as I love my wifes boobs I'd rather miss them than have her go through chemo.

I'd opt for the mastectomy. Intentionally injecting toxins into my body in the hopes I'll save my boobs just doesn't sound like the best option to me.
My mom had half of her left breast removed about a year ago and today she's very happy that she's a survivor. She could care less about the boob.

I'm so sorry to hear that. 
Losing your breasts can be traumatic, but I'd rather do the double mastectomy than go through chemo. Chemo is horrible on your WHOLE body and in general just not good for you. If there's a way to avoid it, that would be what I would choose. And if it comes down to it, you can always have reconstructive surgery.

I honestly must say I don't know what I would do. I have given a lot of thought to it though, since my grandmother and my great grandmother (both on the maternal side) had breast cancer. I've asked my mother and aunts to let us know if any of them develop breast cancer as well.
On the one hand, chemo is rough. On the other hand, even a double mastectomy doesn't guarantee you'll remain cancer free (although it reduces the chances drastically) and I really love my breasts. You can do reconstructive surgery or get the gel-filled boob-bras (my grandmother had those) but it's not the same.
I'd say it's an extremely personal decision where there isn't a one size fits all right answer.
And I really really really hope that those lumps are non-cancerous!!

Honestly, wait till they are properly diagnosed. Also if they don't do it automatically, please please get a biopsy confirmation before any major surgery or chemo... Too many mistakes out there.
Personally, my babies have already sucked my boobs down to AA, so I wouldn't notice either way if they were gone. Hell, I don't know that they'd be able to even fit my boobs in a machine for a mammogram. I hear it's hell for recovery from the surgery as well, and you won't be able to hold your kids for quite a while, but chemo is just as bad if not worse, if you ask me.
Good luck with it all, you'll be in my thoughts. Always hits home when someone in our parenting board community has something come up like this.

Not sure why your physician chose to discuss treatment options at this point, when the diagnosis has not been confirmed yet. Bilateral breast cancer is quite unusual. Here's hoping this turns out to be a benign cause...

Make sure you have each and every lump biopsied, and biopsied QUICK.
I watched my sister go through chemo, I was there when her hair fell out and when she was laying on the bathroom floor too sick to pick her head up to vomit into the toilet. Chemo was her only option, as she was Stage IV at diagnosis.
If it is, and if it hasn't spread - I'd go for the double mastectomy personally, as well as a round of radiation and/or chemo if needed. This is something you want to beat down, and beat down fast.
My thoughts are with you.

so sorry to hear it, I really hope it isn't cancer. but I would definitely go for the double mastectomy and get them to build me a new set of b00bs.
