If it's one thing I hate about Halloween, it's the commercials. We were watching Halloween Town on the Disney Channel and TWICE during the movie, I had to make my little girl turn away because the Halloween massacre type commercials came on. One was the guy who hacks people up in the bathroom and the other was one about thousands of insects - just the kind of stuff that would freak her out and give her nightmares. This was all before 8:00 pm because 8:00 is her bedtime.

What is with the networks anyway???

I honestly don't think the Disney Channel is any better than the rest. We were watching last night and some REALLY stupid show comes on about a farting dog giving stroganoff recipes to its owner via some kind of 'fart language'... I think it was called Gassy Dog or something like that - they were actually taking film footage of the dog's butt farting.

Wow, we watch Disney all the time and I've never seen anything like that Silver. Nor any of those slasher commercials you mentioned! And we've been watching a bunch lately (too much, but that's another story altogether lol).

We don't have television, so I'm working off what I remember my friends kids watching a few years ago.

Isn't the actual Disney Channel now geared towards the 'tween' set of children (ages 7-12, ish), and there is Toon Disney for the littler ones? Like Nickolodeon has Noggin (which used to be Nick Jr.) for the little ones.

That would explain why you're seeing a more mature type of commercial during primetime.

pre-emptive edit: I went ahead and researched before clicking post - Toon Disney was cancelled. Disney (at least on Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_Channel ) looks like it's mostly geared for ages six and above, with a small amount of younger chlidren's programming under the 'Playhouse Disney' label that airs in the morning time spot every day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playhouse_Disney

Noggin is pure kid gold. Everything is good and clean and my 2 little ones love it.

Nick is more for 8+ I think. My 8 year old will watch some of the shows, but he still stick with nick at night odly enough.

That show on the Disney Channel with the farting dog is Sonny with a Chance. Not really a toddler show. For small kids Noggin (now Nick Jr) is your best bet.

I let my 4.5 year old watch Hanna Montana and I find no issues with what they do on that show. My daughter is also very good that if something scares her she asks for the TV to be turned off or change the channel.

Disney has really moved away from catering to little kids. They really only show pre-school stuff early in the AM.
