Identical Twin pregnancy issues.

My wife had her an early ultrasound last Friday and her doctor called today saying they could not see if the twin were seperated by a membrane. She is early at 8.5 weeks and is scheduled for another one at the start of Dec. Hopefully we will see a membrane at that point, but the doctor explained all the issues that can happen if there is not a membrane.
We have read up on the web about it and it is quite frankly overwhelming. Can anyone give me some input if they went through or know anyone who went through this type of pregnancy.
