Eugene (KMTR) - McDonald’s is recalling 12 million tainted “Shrek” themed glasses and a Eugene mom is not “lovin’ it.” The Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning the decorative paint on movie themed “Shrek” drinking glasses contains low levels of cadmium. The metal has been linked to some cancers and can also cause bone softening and severe kidney problems.


Consumers are advised to stop using them. Shelley Howlett has a cabinet full of the glasses that her three daughters use all the time. She says they're sturdy, cute, her kids love them and she's been buying movie themed glasses from McDonald’s for years. The recall hits especially close to home, since her dad died from cancer. “You expect people to check things. They're always saying McDonald’s lovin' it and I’m thinking I’m not really loving it now because I’ve got glasses at home that could potentially harm my children.” Howlett said. McDonald’s sells the glasses for about $2 and will buy them back for $3. This recall only affects the new set of characters that went on sale May 21st. The concern is overtime the cadmium will seep into kids hands, then hands go into their mouth and it’s ingested.

ill be sure to search the trash...but seriously, i dont keep none of the fast food crap. my kids 7 & 3, usually play with it for about 10min. and lose interest...but i also hate taking them to McDonalds...the food is just terrible.
