I think a good beating once in a while will help a child mature and grow mentally. It helps condition them for challenges later in life.
Without warning, once a month, wait until your child is alone in a quiet moment (such as reading) then kick in the door and savagely beat them. Afterwards, go about your business as if nothing happened, and remember to be loving and nurturing.
