Is there a way to cultivate mushrooms such as Portabello, Morel, Shitake, etc at home or does it require that you have a cave or a very damp forest?

My ex-father in law used to grow flats of (legal) mushrooms in his basement in the unfinished part. He used to get the flats from his local garden center.

Sounds like you need a dark semi damp place though which will be a little hard to do in Texas...

Yeah, depending on where you live, it might be hard to find a humid enough spot - or a basement even!

My grandma used to grow mushrooms but that was a long time ago. I remember very little about it. I seem to remember the flats but I think she also combined raising nightcrawlers with it.
