has anyone used those paint over embossed wall paper borders?

I have been tempted to try them. For those who dont know what I am talking about, they are like wall paper in that you glue them to the wall, but they are meant to be painted over thus leaving a pattern under the paint.

I've seen them but never tried them.
If you end up trying them, you will need to let us know how it works out.

I have the square embossed paper on my ceiling and it's painted with a bronze metallic paint to replicate the old tin ceilings you find here in N.England.
