Going to start small and cheap this year. I bought several round and a couple long rectangle pots this weekend. I went with the cheaper plastic ones and made sure they had holes in the bottom for drainage. I figure we can upgrade to better containers or raised beds in the yard once I know that we'll stick with gardening.


I bought carrot and lettuce seeds and a packet of mixed flower seeds. I also plan to buy some small flower plants and some onion sets at the local greenhouse. I'll probably let my daughter pick out the flowers.


Now we just need the cold weather to stay away so we can plant them. I think we'll try to buy the soil this weekend and plant then. We can keep them in the garage until it's warmer outside.

Also maybe buy some ladybugs for the flowers they also keep the kids entertained.
