You will need to feed 6 adults and you have not had time to go shopping nor will you before they get here. You look around your pantry/fridge and this is what you come up with. You have 2 hours to get it on the table. You need to make an apetizer, main meal and a desert.

Fridge:

A flank steak (enough for 6 peeps)

6 pork chops

5 strips of thick sliced hickory smoked bacon

a chunk of Sharp cheddar cheese

a small chunk of regiano cheese

1/2 bottle of left over red wine

1/2 a jar of raspberry preserves

3 granny smith apples

2 oranges

a 12 oz basket of raspberries

a 16 oz container of plain yogurt

a 16 oz bag of mixed greens baby lettuce

a 16 oz container of whole mushrooms

2 pounds of asparagus a bit past its prime but the tips are still good

2 pounds of green beans

dry food storage:

12 baby new potatoes

2 acorn squash

3 heads of garlic

a red onion

3 beefsteak tomatoes

2 bell peppers

digging around in the pantry you find

a bag of egg noodles

a jar of wild rice

a jar of sun dried tomatoes

a jar of marinated artichoke hearts

a large can of pineapple chunks

a box of chocolate cake mix

Checking the bread box you have:

a baguette

a loaf of french bread.

You have all the staples mik eggs spices etc

so what are you going to make?

I will post my dinner menu and recipes after I see a few others Ideas =)

I'd put all the fruit into a pie, I'd use the preserves in it too.

This is what I ended up making

For the apetizer I sliced up the baguete brushed it with warm olive oil in which I had sauted about 3 cloves of smashed and diced garlic then some of them I put grated cheese, sun dried tomatoes on some I left plain I then broiled them. Served them with the artichoke hearts as well.

For dinner I could not decide on the beef or the pork finally I just threw the chops in a roasting pan with diced garlic, the potatoes, and added the green beans, quartered apples and mushrooms when they were just about done. I also baked the squash.

Made a salad out of the greens, oranges, and red onion. I made a dressing out of some of the wine, olive oil, a touch of red wine vinegar and all kinds of spices just kept tasting it till it was 'right' I think I used rosemary, black pepper, tarragon.

For dessert I baked the cake and while it was still warm I poured raspberry jam over it that I had heated a bit in the microwave. I threw some of the raspberries on the top. The others I saved to go with the yogurt in case someone didnt want cake.

it didnt turn out half bad but boy was I in a panic at first LOL!

Tazer you didnt get the invite????

Sounds absolutely wonderful Ayla.

Nope, I didn't get the invite. I think you need to come out here and cook dinner to make up for it. Sprawl is close by too ya know. At least, I think he still is. lol

Appetizer:

Fry the bacon and dice.

Fry the asparagus tips in a bit of olive oil or butter.

Shred the regiano.

Clean the mushrooms & remove the stems.

Stuff the mushrooms with above and broil til it looks good.

Main meal:

I'd grill some of the steak and a couple of the pork chops over a high heat for a couple of minutes. Charred outside, pink inside. Remove and slice thinly.

Then I'd go for a Mexican feel. Dice the lettuce, tomato, cheese, red onion, grill the bell pepper, spice the yogurt with garlic powder & cumin & chili powder, and maybe even some diced artichoke hearts that you got. If tortillas are available, go for a kicked up soft taco or burrito. If not, slather it upon toasted baguette/french bread like a tapenade.

Desert:

Bake the apples. Put a small bit of pine apple into a food processor and mince. Mix it with the baked apple and portion into 6 ramekins. Take the cake mix and a stick of butter and mix together in a separate bowl. Once it's incorporated, sprinkle on top of the apple & pineapple mixture and bake until it's crunchy (like a crumble).
