Was out there on business this past week and against all better judgement (because I am not a Batali fan) we went there for dinner.


FORGET IT! Impossibly tiny portions of below average food. Mediocre service and NOTHING was spectacular. Also, their "homemade" lardo spread (made from pork fat, ginger, rosemary and allspice) was horrific. I cannot get the disgusting taste out of my mouth.


While fine dining is not always my thing, I am not some hick who has never eaten in a top notch place. DON'T waste your money!

don't let this review scare you off from all batali restaurants - his new york restaurants are incredible from reviews from several friends

I wouldn't. I always hear good things about his restaurants in NYC (where my sister lives).

for the most part I think fine dining in Vegas is to be avoided unfortunately

When I got home, I pretty much read the same. People who think his NY places are among the best were horrified by the food AND service at Carnevino.

i live in vegas and one thing i can see is that Vegas is known for its extreme wide variety of things, this is a tourist town, but has also grown into a place totally separate from the tourist part of it. Some people don't really know how large Vegas is, all they know about Vegas is the strip. I guess what im trying to say is that in Vegas just like in any large city you will find a range of bad places and good places, you just have to know where to go.
