but my daughter was in her sushi craze again and needed a sushi fix --- so we took her out to a sushi/steakhouse .... i live in a very small town ... pop 20k-ish which makes me even more hesitant to try specialty type foods
while ordering, my daughter was going nuts about "i want to eat raw fish" etc etc.
we decided to get the sashimi sampler appetizer and split it up --- almost felt like an episode of fear factor, but i wanted to be a responsible adult and lead by example showing them that i would do exactly as i tell them to do --- and try anything once, even if i thought i wouldn't like it.
i was pleasantly surprised
the fish was not "fishy"
it was rich and velvety in my mouth (that's what she said)
i cannot even begin to describe the taste --- it was good
it was outright delicious ... and as i stated before, i am not a fish person
on the sampler there were 2 pieces of tuna, salmon, and red snapper
i HIGHLY recommend that anyone who has never tried sashimi to give it a try and here are some tips to make it a more pleasurable experience
1. get small pieces ... think half the size of a mans thumbnail or the size of a womans thumbnail
2. give it a quick bath in soy sauce
3. do not add wasabi
4. take some friends and make good use of the "i double dog dare you" method
