I got up today and for lunch I decided to make some mashed potatoes. Then I got to thinking, "hmm should I try the hot sauce in them?" and so I did and they were DELICIOUS! Although they did turn a funky pink/orange color from the color of the hot sauce but the taste was amazing.
I've also recently used it in some spaghetti I made. Here is the recipe.
1 package of spaghetti noodles(any size, depending on how much you want to make)
1/2 lb ground hamburger meat
2 bay leaves
2-4 table spoons of hot sauce
1-1 1/2 cups of chopped mushrooms
1 medium sized can of diced tomatoes
1 large can of Hunt's "Traditional" spaghetti sauce
salt and pepper
This recipe is really simple because you can make as much or as little as you want, just adjust all the ingredients accordingly. In a large pot(usually a dutch oven since I cook alot at the time, and have it as leftovers), I boil my spaghetti noodles with 2 bay leaves and salt and pepper to taste. Usually while this is going I will defrost my hamburger meat in the microwave. By the time the noodles are done, the meat is thawed. Then in a large frying pan I put the meat to brown it. Once its browned, I add the diced tomatoes, the can of spaghetti sauce, and the cup or so of chopped mushrooms, and the hot sauce(2-4 table spoons is a rough estimate, basically get it as hot or mild as you want!). I stir it all together, then cover it, and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes. Then I pour the sauce over the noodles(after I drained most of the water off - hence also why I suggest using a large pot) mix. Sometimes I will spinkle some shredded cheddar cheese on top for a garnish. Enjoy!
