the more i think about it, the more i'm agreeing. i'd love to be able to have both a hard copy to give away and a digital copy for me to read. it works brilliantly with blurays! we get all 3 options with the bluray packages and they aren't any more expensive. i feel like it would help both with readers giving digital a shot and also help push more publishers towards giving us more books that way.

I'd buy it just so I can put the mint physical copy on my shelf and then read it in the clearly superior digital format.

yeah i'd do that for books i love and give away the physical copies of books i didn't love. it'd be a win all around.

baen books has already done that with a few books over the last few years. here is a link to where you can find downloadable copies. http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/ baen has no problem with people copying them. in fact, they encourage it. ever since they started having free downloadable books, their sales of dead tree books have gone up. |

A good idea. But then movies should come packaged with the soundtrack CD imo too.

movies come packaged with the bluray, dvd and digital copy of the movie. that's more than enough. i don't need their stupid maybe has one good song soundtracks.
