picked up the codex alera books again. i forgot how good it was. each book always starts out kinda slow and i'm always like ugh. this is some boring ass bs. then 3 minutes later it's awesome and everyone is fighting for survival again and tavi is complaining about always having to be the hero.

I still think the first book reads like something he wrote as a teenager and 'fixed up' to release.
However, the books get exponentially better with each successive book. By three or four I was obsessively chain reading them to the end.

yeah i was like.. 4 chapters into the second one when i stopped because meh. but now i'm plowing through the rest like one a day.  they really do just get shockingly awesome after you get over the hump in 2.

finished cursor's fury. was like FINALLY!!!!! then i laughed because of kitai. god i love kitai. i hated her in the first book. i was all DIE YOU STUPID BITCH! now i'm all MARRY ME FICTIONAL BOOK PERSON!
