To be honest it gets kind of boring knowing that anyone interesting is going to die within 1-2 books.

Wait till you get a bit further in the series. I think its fantastic, and honestly only one of my favorite characters have died so far.

Wait till you get a bit further in the series. I think its fantastic, and honestly only one of my favorite characters have died so far.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing. It's just a dressing tragic world that he creates. It makes me want to drink... more than usual.

There are plenty of interesting characters that live.
OK interesting/effectual character still alive: Danerys, Tyrion, Jamie, Arya and possibly Jon Snow (assuming he survives somehow). Most of the remaining cast aren't terribly interesting / effectual, and a lot of those who where are dead.
