I just finished the last two books in the last couple days because I couldn't put them down. If someone has hinted that it's just another teenage love story like Twilight, and you shouldn't read it, don't listen to them. Yes, there is a love story of sorts, but it's part of the story, and not the main focus.

I just finished the last book a few days ago too. Really enjoyed all three books. Though book two kinda started off slow, but got really good.
As a guy, I was a bit worried about how much I'd like the books, considering there was a girl-guy-guy love triangle. But fortunately Katniss isn't a very emotional girl, so it didn't get awkward.
The last book was definitely a downer in that so many people you liked end up dying and things don't really end that well for Katniss either. Had hoped for a happier ending, but still really like how it ended.

Yeah, but it felt more "real" to me this way. I think that's the problem with books that have happy endings, where no one dies. It just feels contrived. This felt like it could actually happen and make sense. And I think she ended up happy enough. She was at least able to move on.

book one was good,
book two was book one
book three was book two and wtf. No one would have ever really done what zone 13 wanted to do. that was bs.

I read them all over a couple of days last year.
Book one was enjoyable, not really my thing, but I liked the characters and it held my interest.
Book two had no reason to exist. The second go round was not entertaining, all the other stuff could have easily been put into book 1 and made that book better. Still, it was enjoyable enough, if I stopped thinking "they should have put all this stuff into book 1 and skipped the entire second go round".
Book three was all over the place. I pretty much just skimmed over the last 3/4's of the book to see what happened in the end.
In all, I thought the ideas, while not new, were interesting and well portrayed. The characters were initially well written and likable. Would have been a good book, if it wasn't drawn out into a trilogy, which for me, made it much less enjoyable. It took the elements of a fine 400 page book, and turned it into a not so fine 3 book saga.

True, but her target audience isn't likely to sit down and read a 400 page book.
