I like that you're dismissing one Avatar for being all special effects and blue sh*t and touting another that looks like it's all special effects and blue lighting. It's ironic or something.

I don't have my hopes up. In the Cartoon Ang smiles a lot, he's a warm presence through out the show with the occasional funk.
This kid looks like someone stole his Cadburry Egg and isn't going to have that.

The movie version is definitely more serious then the show. But they are aimed at two different audiences. The cartoon for kids and adults so they mix in a lot of humor/slapstick. While the movie is aimed more for adults it looks like and more action oriented.

They should have made this into a series of movies... at least a trilogy. The story is way too big for just one movie.

They're not going to commit to a trilogy before they see how the first one does. If it does well, they'll make more.
