The guy they cast is Captain Kirk's dad in the recent Star trek reboot. I'm not sure, but I think he needs to put on about 100 pounds to play Thor.

Yeah he is not near burly enough to pull it off. At least not from that shot. I mean creative license and all but even if he is well written it would be hard to see Thor as a scrawny little human when he should be the image of a Norse God.

Well the marvel handbook says he's officially 6'6", 640 pounds  Obviously that's because he's not human, but if he was his height and physical appearance would be in the neighborhood of 320+ lb of solid muscle, probably more.

He has been shown in various heights depending on the media you see him in (or read his description on). At the very least though he should be Conan'ish in stature like the governator was in the movie. Massive, overstated and intimidating should be the words of the day for the casting team.
