Just bought a Toshiba Satellite P755 from Best Buy yesterday evening (Friday 6/17). It does not have a GPU so I went online to do some research on if I could add one later. Yet, when I go to the Toshiba site I can't find any listing of the laptop anywhere. So, naturally, I Google it and find this article which states that this particular laptop isn't even supposed to be released until 6/21. More searching shows that Amazon has the release date at 6/19 (this morning). It's rather confusing.

What I'm wondering is, did Best Buy jump the gun and put it on shelves early? Or are Amazon and that article just wrong?

-edit- For a second I thought maybe best buy had screwed up and sold me a different model, but it's a P755. Evidence

Typically, a pre-built laptop will offer different video options upon ordering them from the manufacturer. Seldom does BestBuy sell a class of laptop that has exchangeable video cards. this is just my past experience with BestBuy but things could have changed.

When you flip it over and look at the bottom....there are several doors with screws holding them.

One door will be for a Videocard - IF IT CAN BE UPGRADED.....the fact you said it didnt have one, means you cannot upgrade it in most cases.

As stated previously....very few laptops can be upgraded past a larger HD and more ram. You have yo buy a very expensive laptop to find the ones with changable GPUs and then you have to hope they make a few upgrades before they discontinue the unit.

yea it has to have a graphics card. It just comes with the crappy ol generic intel one. BUT it has a graphics card.

and I have yet to see a laptop where you can add/upgrade a graphics card. Laptops are not like desktops in that respect, hard drives and RAM are about the only things you can upgrade.

There were some Asus and Sager ones that let you do it. I haven't seen any since though.

I don't know why anyone would buy a laptop without a dedicated GPU. Even if you can add it later, do you know how ridiculously expensive laptop graphics cards are? And you're not going to get one from Bestbuy or even the manufacturer. You'll have to buy one off eBay and pray to God that it is the right one.

If you want something with a better GPU take that back and buy it now.
