my nephew really wants a powercrap but my sister is trying to get him something that's you know.. affordable for an 11 year old boy. he'll need to be able to use it for the next 3 years for school and stuff and he wants to do photo/movie stuff on it. (keep his age in mind here.) what should i be looking for? because i honestly have no idea what the iphoto/imovie crap does so i don't know what to look at.

First find out the requirements for the school work.


Second, keep in mind his age....I wouldnt pay more than $400 tops because it is likely to get broken or stolen before he turns 12.

ok he's 11 but he's not like.. a normal 11 year old. he's had his own laptop since he was like 8 and it was never stolen, lost or even damaged. he wouldn't even really need a new computer but something on the motherboard kind of blew up. and by that i mean a pop and black smoke.

so my sister went to the icrap store and the laptop he wants is $1500. i told her the equiv pc would probably only be $700-800 and she was extremely happy to learn that. i think all he needs for school is the office software. but the macbook actually comes with the whole office suite.
