It's been a long time since I've messed with betas for a web browser, but Firefox 7 promises memory optimizations. I'm often annoyed because I always leave Firefox with 10+ tabs open, and after a few hours, it is using easily over 600k+ of memory. It gets noticeable sluggish over time.

So far Firefox 7 is way faster. It feels faster. We shall see how it fares after a few days, as I just loaded it today.

Anyone else beta testing?

Actually I went ahead and downloaded Aurora (8.0a2) to check out. Kinda bored anyway.

This is sort of interesting.

http://html5test.com/

303 and 9 bonus points out of a total of 450 points for Aurora (FF 8.0)

255 and 9 bonus points out of a total of 384 points for Palemoon 5.0 (modified FF 5.0)

141 and 5 bonus points out of a total of 450 points for Internet Explorer 9.0

All of those on Vista Home edition. I normally run FF 6 on Ubuntu 11.04. Not tested that one yet.

hehe yeah 600,000k as the task manager shows it

So far, I haven't closed Firefox 7 beta since I installed it, and I'm hovering around 300,000k so far.

I installed Aurora and it has been running nicely. Memory is down over 50%.

I really notice it when I've let it sit for a few hours, then come back. Firefox 5 would be sluggish until I restarted it.
