I posted this in another thread, but decided it's news worthy of it's own topic since it was semi OT for that thread anyway.

Pretty wide chip, not going to be able to use most conventional coolers with just a normal bracket... haha

This is an Interlagos, a server version of the new Bulldozer architecture. Zambezi is the desktop version some of us are presumably looking forward to. AMD usually releases their server versions first (backwards from Intel).

And sadly there is a rumor AMD may be delaying the Zambezi desktop chip even longer. It was anticipated for a September launch (and originally expected even earlier).

Damn, I was hoping they would be out before the end of the year . I will have to build a new system for someone soon.

You and me both. I have soo much hope for AMD to be competitive again... It seems like it's been forever since I have been able to run a computer with an AMD chip that was used for something other than HTPC or a home nas box...

I amazed you can buy this chip and I haven't seen a single leaked benchmark.
