Today I am having issues with IE9 opening this forum. FireFox goes right through.

Just the last couple of days I've had spells when VN pages take an eternity to open. The top of the page appears instantly as usual but the topics don't appear for a while. That's on two machines using IE8 and IE9, and it's intermittent.

I don't but rarely use IE but I know the forums have been having issues for weeks now (in spite of the recent server move).

Since then, boarder at top generally loads fine, then the topics and threads take extra long time load.

This is the same issue I am having with IE9. Odd thing is that FireFox does not exhibit the same symptoms.

I am notorious for being a late adopter to IE. Probably because I don't use it personally and in the server/app space, IE upgrades don't happen at a pace nearing "frequent" by any stretch. Hell I still support two NT 4 servers for about 100 users. And apps that roughly 5,000 of users use would be broken if the app servers were upgraded beyond 8.
Be like me. Don't use IE, and only upgrade when absolutely necessary. In the meantime use a modern browser. You will be happier for it.

I'm not changing my browser because of an intermittent problem that has suddenly cropped up with one site! I'm very happy with IE, always have been. It does all I want very well on the whole, and without the need for add-ons. I've tried other browsers and seen no benefit from them. Then again, my use of a browser is extremely limited and I fully understand why those with more substantial requirements look elsewhere.
