i told my sister we were gonna have to get the student version of office for her kid from not dell because dell wants $120 for something ms is only asking $90 for. (no phsyical copy provided by dell.) she informed she'd just go to the microsoft store at the mall. the hell did they start having physical stores?

I remember like a year ago (maybe a lot more?) it was all over the news that they were opening their first ones. I've never actually seen one myself though.

well it's not like the big retail stores don't carry everything they sell. it seems kind of ridiculous. they don't have hardware outside of the zune do they?

I looked around the site, the only product that is THEIRS aside from software and the xbox are peripherals. (i.e. mouses/keyboards). Doesn't really necessitate a chain of stores lol.

esp when those are all sold in all the electronic stores anyway. i'm guessing they tried to pull an apple with that but they don't have microsoft computers so.. yeah.

At least two years ago by my reckoning. They were trying to hire managers of Apple stores when they first started.

The sell more of their products at the Apple store, as well as software and a ton of peripherals. They also have their repair drop off there.
Also, for hipsters. Have to rock that beard and $75 t-shirt of an obscure band somewhere when you're at the mall.
