Not sure if this is the place for it but here goes

I'm trying to make a movie out of all my DAOC clips.

I've put them all together in Sony Vegas Pro 10

My screen res is 1920 x 1200 and I recorded using Fraps at Half Screen.

My project is done etc and saved.

I have no idea what the best settings are to render etc though. I played around and saved as an .avi. I used the xvid codec to get some real high quality vid that looks great - It works out to around 1.7gb when it had finished rendering

The problem is when I try to compress it in VDub... the size doesn't get too much smaller.

Is there some better settings I should render with in Vegas to get high quality but something that will still compress to anything reasonable?!

The overall video length is around 18 minutes if that helps at all

18m? You watched too many of Brag's vids.

My first guess would be to try rendering the video in another format besides avi. Or try using a different codec H.264 or something. It is going to be large at that rez and length.

Try googling "sony vegas pro compress video".

Oh, forgot to add. You could try "HandBrake". Its a free tool that can do compression.

if it's not getting much smaller it's because you're not using the right codecs. there's tons of how to guides for compressing to avi or mkv files all over the interwebs.

I use Handbrake and compress with mp4 container and H.264 Video Codec. Shrinks files from say 35MB to 8 or so.

I've used Cyberlink's power director a lot. Very easy.

But the other posters are right, compress it to h.264
