And you thought your 2 year phone contract was expensive.

Sprint will spend $20 billion to get roughly 30 million iPhones over the next 4 years (assuming this includes newer models later too). The CEO says Sprint probably won't even make any money off this deal until 2014.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-20114938-94/sprint-commits-to-$20b-order-for-30m-iphones-wsj-says/?tag=cnetRiver

Though Cnet is just being silly even wondering if this means the iPhone 5 would be exclusive to Sprint. Haha. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind AT&T and Verizon are also getting the iPhone 5 too.

T-Mobile will be the only one without the iPhone though. Though I guess if getting the iPhone requires this kind of money commitment and your company is in the process of being sold, it seems understandable that T-Mobile couldn't do it.

How much do you think att and verizon pay?

I do not like apple, but I must respect them for having people PAY to sell their product.

Sprint pays a $20 billion for a 4 year deal that does not include exclusivity, older iPhone models, or even the upcoming iPhone 4S. That $20 billion only gets them the iPhone 5 (not sure if they'll get newer models or not or if that requires a new deal).

So $20 billion only gets that much. I can't imagine how much AT&T's iPhone deal that included about 4 years of exclusivity must of cost them. Don't think I've seen any reports on how big that number was.

It might not have been as big due to being the first ones. The iPod was a great device, though.

I agree the first contract may of not been that much. But I bet the 2nd one was a lot.
