Haha... Why the hell did I guess iPhone 4S? It's got a raise glass front and back with really nothing to protect the glass. Galaxy Nexus has a plastic case that can take a drop much better and it's glass is flush with the bezel. And even that contour shape might be helping a bit with drops maybe.

While not scientific it does show durability issues with the iPhone because of its beautiful no lip glass.
You see the same kind of edgy design in car interiors. Those tiny buttons are impossible to operate when wearing heavy gloves let alone choppers. When it is thirty below zero and the car is just starting to warm up the last thing you want to do is take off a glove to put the heat onto the windshield to clear the frost.
