Mycompany has been using mobile iron to manage our company iphones, but our IT director seems to think that it's not doing everything he wants, so he went out and found this solution Mobile Active Defense. The main reason is he wants users on the VPN at all times so their web traffic is filtered through our websense filter.

I was just wondering if anyone here has it and what you thought about it.

Believe it or not we're using Profile Manager for our MDM on the 100 or so we have at work. Runs on Lion Server and is free as part of Server OSX Lion.
You can push a profile through IPCU to effectively force them to use a VPN.

Wouldn't doing that severely effect the network performance on the phone? Speeds, load times etc.

That's my concern, but the IT director doesn't like that mobile iron doesnt force our users to use the VPN. I think it's BS, I do not think there's any reason to force people to go through the VPN on a cell phone.

He keeps referencing black berries, but I dont know if anyone has told him there are 2 browsers on a black berry lol.

Oh god @ Blackberries...

Anyway, yes, you're going to notice a performance hit if you're pushing everything through the VPN.. although why you would want http traffic through the VPN blows my mind. -.-

He for sure is trying to be a control freak, we all hate it but there's nothing we can do, he's already bought it apparently.
