The largest custom ROM maker, Cyanogen Mod is considering setting up it's own Android market.

Sounds like it's just in the discussion phase right now, they just asked what people's interest would in in them doing this and naturally it's overwhelming positive so far. It would be a market specializing in apps for rooted devices and apps that Google won't include in it's market like rooting and tethering apps.
Interestingly it sounds like they tried to get Amazon to allow them to include the Amazon Appstore in Cyanogen Mod, but got brushed off. Not surprising from Amazon.
Would be pretty cool if they do this.

As long as they kept the Google market on there, I think it's a good idea.

Cyanogen Mod doesn't include Google Apps. Google won't allow that. So those have always been loaded afterwards. Now Cyanogen Mod will for the first time have an included app store. Though naturally it's still good to load the Google Apps too.
