I "rediscovered" chrome recently and like the app store. What do you guys use?

I guess I don't understand "Chrome Apps". Because whenever I install one, it looks exactly the same as the website. So not sure exactly what is suppose to be different from the app and the webpage. Seems to "apps" are just a different name for "bookmarks".

Chrome does have apps. Things like Angrybirds.

You get them from the Chrome Web Store

But what I'm saying is, if you just go to the same address, you get the exact same thing. It's just a bookmark in a different place. I'm not sure what the point is.

http://chrome.angrybirds.com/ (I can even play this on Firefox).

Ah I see what you mean.
After searching some, looks like most of them are glorified bookmarks, but very few are apps and can be used offline - like scratchpad and Gmail apparently.
I guess Google just wanted to offer a nice visual "button" when you install an "app", so it can look more appealing than a bunch of links or webpage thumbnails.

It will also make their Chrome OS more smartphone-like and that is user-friendly for even the kiddies and non-techy people.

Apps are nothing but website front ends.

At first they were written in oddball non-web languages, but now, we are developing layers to translate from Objective C or whatever other stupid language APIs required to normal HTML/CSS/Javascript.

How's chrome holding up anyways? In comparison to firefox I should mention (when I tried chrome back when it first came out there really wasn't much going on the app/addon front), still chugging along with ff but find it chews up memory insanely fast and doesn't seem too keen on releasing it without a browser restart.

Both browsers pretty much have the same market share now, but Firefox is on it's way down while Chrome will so surpass it very soon.

Chrome is lighter, has a much better UI and new tabs page, superior synchronization between computers.
Firefox has much more powerful add-ons. If they could just improve the UI a bit and just completely scrap that horrible Sync feature and start over with something better (it's sucks so bad), they might stop losing market share.
