The best part about this news is that those of us with new Core i5 2500's don't need to bother upgrading when it comes out in April.

Funny, they even say that the better performance is due mainly to higher turbo overclock. Well Duuuh - if you overclock something more it will be faster. They need to test them at exactly the same clock speeds to be able to say which one performs better.

If the higher turbo is all that's happening, then the only benefit would be the lower temp, which is not that big of a deal by any means unless the 22nm process allows for overclocking speeds that are not attainable with the Sandy Bridge CPUs.

I hear you Nakal, I have an i7 920 clocked at 3.8GHz and together with my trusty Radeon 5870 I am running every game I have tried with great visuals and performance at 1920x1200. Generally the only things I turn down are AA/AF/shadows, but I have always done that anyway.

I've had this processor for 2.5 years now and see no need to upgrade it still. Suits me just fine

same. i built my i7-920 and OC to 4.2 but temps were 80 degrees so i toned it down to 3.8. this gave me a much cooler everyday OC. note i only have teh V8 air cooler and 3 case fans running only a 5670vidcard, 6gigs ram. i see no reason to upgrade my pc other than the SSD(i dont have one) and vidcard.
