If you guys get a chance, go apply for the Path of Exile beta here: http://www.pathofexile.com/

It is basically a Diablo style game that is fairly complex. I got into the beta last week and put about 10 hours into it and enjoy it and I think it will have promise when it eventually releases.

There is no such thing as wholly free to play, developers have to make their money somehow and this game is no different. The website will have a cash shop that, it is claimed, "will allow the purchase of many in-game perks and aesthetic upgrades, but all of these are completely optional, and players can have a complete, fulfilling gaming experience without spending a penny". Time will tell how accurate that description turns out to be.

It's an interesting looking game and I've applied for the beta. However, I'm under no illusions where the term "free to play" is concerned, it invariably means either a watered-down game or else a free trial with the need to spend some money if you like the game well enough to want to play it seriously, and I have no problem with that. Like I say, developers have to make their money one way or another and no-one should feel entitled to play something for nothing.

I don't mind the Free to Play model, but I have yet to see 1 developer understand what MICRO payments actually means.

They will get more money allowing a $1 purchase of an item than they will having someone purchse $10 worth of points to use at their leisure.

We will see. From what I gathered, they are not offering equipment for sale, just cosmetics and "cool things".

I got into the beta last fall and have played it on and off during it's different releases. I think it does have potential and overall was a fun game.
