http://www.pcper.com/news/General-Tech/Nobody-likes-NVIDIA-even-Apple-wont-play-them

A short story on PCPer about the rough time Nvidia seems to be having lately.

With almost every mainstream CPU including an integrated GPU, and even Intel GPUs starting to get to acceptable levels. It's getting harder for Nvidia to sell it's lower end discrete graphics chips.

Also rumors say Nvidia is having trouble with it's 28nm manufacturing process with TSMC, so while AMD is cranking out it's next gen 28nm 7000 series cards right and left, Nvidia hasn't been able to release anything yet.

Next is Apple a pretty big customer. And the rumor is they are cutting back on Nvidia GPUs. Either because they no longer really need them with integrated GPUs doing the job now or because Nvidia doesn't have a suitable 28nm GPU ready yet.

Oh and lastly. It appears all the next generation consoles are using AMD graphics. Ouch.

Wow, AMD is finally getting a break? Good to see.
nVidia left a bad taste in my mouth ever since they tried preventing ATI users from using their PhysX software. Also the last few gens of their cards tend to be power hogs compared to ATI's products.

That said, low-end GPUs deserve to go the way of the dodo already. They are good for nothing but browsing the net and watching a movie. This basic usage should not require spending extra money on video cards.

Discrete GPUs should be for people who want to play games or use multiple monitors, encode video, etc.

That's why competition is good. AMD/Intel is going to push them to innovate more, and get their products right.

Just about the time NVIDIA falls out of the competition, AMD will shift to its APU only cause Intel cannot compete in the 3D market with them.

But there is a brightside for Nvidia. They were early (for a PC company) to realize the importance and surge of mobile devices and get in there with it's own ARM SoC. Intel now playing catch up and AMD still trying to decide.
