Usually, only the nurses have the codes for the Pyxis drug dispenser. But due to the realities of the situation here, I do too for when there are no nurses around.


I honestly don't see how any recovering addict could ever be a nurse. Percocet, vicodin, lortabs, dilaudid, xanax, klonopin, ativan, and the two kings of them all, oxycontin and Demerol... All at your fingertips. Sure there are safeguards but if you know what you're doing, you can siphon any of these off.


I may be a boozehound at times but thank God I've never been a junkie. Otherwise, counting through 50 Percocets would go from a chore to a massive temptation. No wonder so many nurses have problems with addiction.

It's no mystery that most medical workers are some of the biggest and heaviest users. Albeit it some of the most educated and responsible users, but users none the less. High stress, easy access...
