As much as it pains me to say it, I think Sean Bean was the weak link.

The man's one of my favorite actors, but his character in season one was just too goddamn dreary. Without him things have really brightened up. I mean, they slaughter like twelve babies in the first episode of season 2 but it's still got a kind of levity to it, you know? Like it's not quite as depressing as a Ned Stark scene. I think the show is picking up, as are the surviving characters. Except for that guy from the Wire. I hate that guy from the Wire. He's just a piss poor actor. He's still acting like he's the guy from the Wire.
