Hi all

Long time no see

I've been trying to get back into AC but no luck

System is: Vista 32bit, running AVG, AdAware, Spybot and basic vista firewall, hooked up to a wireless router provided by Be*.

I'm having problems connecting to AC to update the client. First time I had to completely uninstall AVG and disable the firewall. That only got me as far as the blue vial page where the update progress vial would not fill and ended up with a "connection to server failed" error.

I've read that AC supposedly works with AVG but for me this doesn't seem to be the case.

I've tried opening ports on the router from 8050 to 9020 but tbh I'm not sure if I've done it correctly as the router is a pos.

I've just tried getting into AC again after uninstalling then reinstalling both AC and AVG but I can not update the client page where it shows the worlds

Any ideas how to fix this?

Many thanks!

Dar

I had this issue and fixed it by downloading the vista hotfix as posted in the ac.turbine tech forums and I can play with Vista & AVG no problem

I had the same problems did everything the ac forum boards said to do.

Anyways i ended up uninstalling mcafee, and installing avg that worked once then wouldnt after that.
I then tried Avira, and now i can patch and get on i would try downloading it. Sucks though idont like the fact i have to use crappy virus software just to play AC... They really need to come up with a solution.

Nothing wrong with "free" virus software like AVG, Avira, and Avast. McAfee is nothing but bloatware. I personally use Avast and it works great.
