Next week I may resubscribe with a new account and play around with a mage. What's the magic system like these days? Are the classes balanced, or are hybrids with Life Magic still the dominant class? Last time I played - in 2004 - if you couldn't imperil & vuln your target, you took too long.

Considering playing around with a War Mage.

recently read that Empyreans are a playable race. What are their racials or bonuses?

You have help now with rended weapons. Also void magic is pretty good. But you are always going to do better with Life and War Magic combo. Because it costs more skill credits. More skill credits in something means you can kill faster. Just flat war, you can do some damage, add life to it and you do much better.


Empyrean's are playable, so are Tumerocks, Shadows, Undead and a new race Gearknights.

Thanks. Leaning towards magic because it was always my favorite, followed closely by Bow Archer.

What racials do Empyreans have? And what the hell is void magic?

Empyreans have the best skill set (well to many people), they get free Specialized Arcane lore. It saves you 6 skill credits for other things.


Void magic is a new type of magic. It is kind of like both life and war. It has a Nether Bolt/Arc/Ring that does NETHER damage. It also has curse spells like corruption, weakness, destruction and corrosion.


When using a void mage you don't have to use different wands for every monster. It will do less damage than war, but the curses really help out in fellowship fighting and can be good for solo as well.


For example, you can hit a monster with a corrosion spell and it will do 360 points of damage over a period of 15 seconds, so while the monster might not go down right away, once you have hit the spell if it has less than 360 points of health you can just leave it and it will die.
