I am trying to connect from work and I have a SSH tunnel running from my work to my home PC...how can Ipoint daoc to my proxy?
In a browser I just pointed it to my loopback and the port I used...

I see people doing it for WoW, and I assume I can do something similar.

Thanks in advance for any help.

My university blocks incoming UDP which is not a problem for daoc but it doesn't let me play Heroes of Newerth.

So I use a service called your freedom, http://your-freedom.net

This in combination with OpenVPN lets you run almost any application through the proxy, and they have a free basic package of the service.

The free version does not have high enough bandwidth for HoN, so I'm not sure if it is good enough for daoc, but I pay $13/month for the enhanced package that puts me at a comfortable ping with minimal lag and it has unlimited use.

I think that the enhanced package would easily let you play daoc at work, but I don't know about the free package. This also lets you run most other games and apps and web browsing through the proxy, so the $13/month gets more use than for just 1 game.

Edit: I have used daoc with this service when I was activated, but I was at the enhanced package so I can't say if the free package is good enough.

Just keep in mind that using an 'external' service puts you at risk of getting your account stolen, since daoc's network traffic is pseudo-secure

Anyway what you can do is run a VPN between your work and your Home PC.. but keep in mind that your company's policy might state that basically it's reason enough to sack you.. then again, playing games @ work usually is.

OpenVPN can run through some proxies.. and since you already have SSH working, you can certainly get something like that going (or find a SOCKS5 wrapper for winsock, since SSH can act as a SOCK5 proxy too)

I tried http tunneling, SSH, and also the winsock wrapper for daoc a while ago and it never worked. I probably was doing something wrong, but where can you find free servers that give you good performance for gaming anyway?
