First off, the idea of having a dev roll up a superhero and lead zergs in battle isn't a bad idea at all. It could be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, last night's execution simply wasn't what it could have been. I'd like there to be another of these events, but I think this is how it should be done:

Do the event on Agramon. No keep taking. Each realm will start at one of their milegates, and then when the event begins, all three realms will attack each other for a giant three way battle. Agramon is large enough that there will be smaller sub battles around in addition to the main zerg fights. Also, people will be running back, hopefully giving the 8mans and soloers a supply line to hunt. The idea here is to try to recreate the old three way zerg fights that happened in OF Emain that pretty much everyone enjoyed. The dev champion should still be powerful, but not as much so. They should have something like 50k hp and do 20% more damage than a normal temped rr12, but not one shotting anyone. When they die, they should give a significant amount of realm points. The main goal of the fights is to drop the other realm's champion for the large rp bonus. Basically, the event should be 60-90 minutes of chaotic three way open field fighting that results in everyone making lots of rps.

I had other ideas that I thought would enhance this type of event, but they would all require coding, and I figured it was best to keep everything as simple as possible. I sincerely believe that if you ran a event like this, just about everyone who participated would enjoy themselves and be satisfied with the rewards.

Cathal Valley was fun, I loved having the Dev's alongside us. Added spice and flavor to the game.

I'd still love an OF weekend. Nothing would please me in this game more than having OF. I know it's possible because we can all hop the bk walls into OF, so opening up OF for a week would just be the delight of many people, especially many who would return JUST for that.

As for last nights Dev situation, I loved it. I have no complaints at all. A lot of people are crying over their God Mode, but the ones who enjoyed it out number the ones complaining. Dev's cannot be normal chars, that would just be stupid. Having our poor cloth casting Hibernian eating dirt yelling for a rez with the 3 druids on hand getting zerged by a billion Albs would be utterly stupid. The way it was last night was great and an added spice for those of us that play the game.

Old Frontiers tho... the things I'd do for memories there once more There's a reason Freeshards exists.... OF

Last night was a lot of fun. The point of the event was to get each of the 3 realms to work together large scale. There will always be someone complaining in region or dev bashing and I hope that the 3 devs that had to put up with that last night do not take it to heart for I think a majority of the player base had fun. It was different and breaks up the normal every day RvR battles.

Perhaps they will have follow up events like this, it is a good way to have the Devs involved with the game as well and I am sure they had fun too.

I don't know what Old Frontier you were playing on, but back on Mid-Iseult - long before \population decline that precipitated the first clusters - Emain was purely 8v8 and stealthers camping milegates.

If you were not the right class, spec, ML, template - you could forget about getting a regular group. So, a lot of people tried pick-up groups only to find themselves spending more time with resurrection sickness than actually playing because the gank squads would obliterate them with ease.

For the most part, OF RvR was exclusive and NOT inclusive. Like it or not, more classes and spec choices have viable places in RvR now than they did in OF.

But the old gank squads bitched and moaned - because they started getting beat down by how the game was designed to be played - no longer run by 8 mans who minimized and maximized their templates and group set ups. Zergs started rolling them on the way to a keep or tower. NF made RvR closer to true 'Realm vs Realm' and the much elite gank squads left. Some migrated to mordred for a while. Others went off to other games. A few still lurk around in /region - crying and belly-aching like babies. Like angry hagged widows, they pine for the 'glory days' of ol' Emain, pre-Left Axe Nerf and when those uppity archers knew their place.

You want to rock it with big battles on the island? - get in region some night and run it up the flag pole and see who salutes it. There is nothing stopping players for starting a battlegroup and ripping into an opposing realms frontier until they form up their own zerg to come out and chase after you.

You don't need a dev to sanction a BG full of players looking to beat something down.
