Just coming back and totally unfamiliar with most of toa and any class changes in the last 3 years.

Wanted to make either a reaver, friar, vw, thane or valk. Will be solo for pve and pvp, just curious if one really has an advantage over the others?

They all sound interesting and I have never had any of them lv 50

thanes are really fun now imo i say go with that. i am more for the "fun playing factor" as opposed to how effective they are. I mean, I played a friar at release and until 6 months after ToA

Of those choices a Friar would be the easiest for PvE, you can self buff every stat but Str/Con and you heal the crap out of yourself while you fight AND you have self endo regen. There's virtually zero downtime. However, while they are very strong in 1on1's they kind of suck as a solo toon, easily CC'd, have no CC of their own and little ranged ability. No real need for a bot, it's easy to use charges with them.

I loved playing a VW solo, still get CC'd a lot but you have some of your own, their ranged ability is quite effective and they hit like a truck.

Didn't play them a lot but I liked Reavers and Valks as a solo melee class, they too suffer the same CC woes but just having a shield is huge these days plus they have lots of interupts once you close on your target.

Thane + VW take a little bit of effort to really understand/play well. They are both true hybrids down to their core.
Friars/Valks/Reavers are more or less the same class, hard to hit and able to heal themselves.

Up to you IMO; if you're uncertain of how everything is ATM, I'd suggest the bottom 3 rather than the top 2 just due to ease factor.
